- Full name, email address, and mobile number
- Educational details (college, degree, graduation year)
- Resume and portfolio content
- Work experience, skills, and profile information
- Company name, designation, and business details (for employers)
- Profile photo
- Communications you send to us
b) Information collected automatically
- IP address and approximate location (country/city level)
- Browser type and device information
- Pages visited and features used on the Platform
- Timestamps and session data
- Cookies and similar tracking technologies
c) Payment information
- Payment transactions are processed by our third-party payment gateway partner(s). We do not store your card details. We retain transaction IDs and payment status for our records.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Match you with relevant job, internship, and freelance opportunities
- Power AI-driven features such as resume scoring and skill-gap analysis
- Process payments and manage coins transactions
- Send platform notifications, alerts, and updates (email and in-app)
- Enable employers to discover and evaluate student profiles
- Improve, personalise, and maintain the Platform
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, or security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your personal information for advertising unrelated to CollegeLancer, and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With employers: When you apply for a job, internship, or freelance project, your profile and application details are shared with the relevant employer.
- With students (for employers): Student profiles that employers unlock are made visible to those employers.
- Service providers: We share data with trusted service providers who help us operate the Platform, including cloud infrastructure (AWS), authentication (AWS Cognito), and payment gateway partner(s). These providers process your data only on our instructions.
- Legal compliance: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
- Business transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, with appropriate notice to you.
4. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the Platform.
- Essential cookies: Required for the Platform to function (authentication, session management). Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies: Help us understand how users interact with the Platform so we can improve it.
You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Platform.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the ap-south-1 (Mumbai) region, ensuring data residency within India.
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Encryption of sensitive data at rest
- Strict access controls — only authorised personnel access personal data
- Regular security reviews and vulnerability assessments
Despite these measures, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data and encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide you with the Platform’s services.
If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes (such as transaction records).

Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data. You can update most information directly in your account settings.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
- Withdrawal of consent: Where we rely on your consent to process data, you may withdraw it at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
